Abstract
886,720. Gas heaters. PARKINSON COWAN Ltd. Jan. 15, 1959 [Jan. 15, 1958], No. 1459/58. Class 126 In a space heater, the burner B comprising a porous ceramic plaque on the surface of which the gas/air mixture burns, is bolted over an aperture 13 in the top 10 of a skirt A, preferably formed as an aluminium or steel pressing, through holes 14 and 18. Flue outlets 15 and holes 16 are formed in the top 10 and holes 17 in the longer side walls 11 of the skirt A. To form a larger assembly, fillets C are secured to the walls 11 of adjacent units through holes 23 and 17 and a bridge D with feet apertured at 19 may be secured to the assembly through holes 16, straddling the central skirt A or the junction between the two central skirts in an assembly of an odd or even number of units respectively. The bridge D is always mounted with a hole 21 adjacent the gas inlet to support the gas supply pipe. To join units end-to-end, Fig. 5, holes are drilled in the walls 12 and bridges D mounted on the units are joined by a connecting piece E. Units joined side-by-side in rows may be joined end-to-end to other rows. In space heaters comprising any number of units, holes 20 in a bridge D or 25 in a connecting piece E will be centrally disposed to receive a suspension device. The heater may be mounted on wall brackets or with the bottom of the skirt or skirts A flush with the ceiling.
