Abstract

2-Acylamino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazoles are prepared by treating N,N1-bis(thiocarbamyl)-hydrazine with at least a substantially stoichiometric quantity of an alkanoic acid in the presence of aqueous hydrochloric or hydrobromic acid. Hypophosphorous acid may also be present. Specification 687,760 is referred to.
