Abstract
A synthetic resin paint contains a powdered alkylpolysiloxane having a grain size of less than 1 micron and which is insoluble in organic solvents and water, the siloxane being present in amount of between 0,5 and 5% by weight of the solid binding agent. The powdered siloxane may be made by the process of Specification 856,522. In Examples (1) an intimate mixture of TiO2, BaSO4, dolomite, ZnO and powdered alkyl polysiloxane was mixed with a commercial emulsion of a linseed oil alkyd resin in water, and diluted with water; (2) various amounts of the siloxane powder were mixed with separate portions of a lacquer consisting of a linseed oil alkyd resin in a mixture of white spirits, xylene, ethylene glycol, TiO2, ZnO and the naphthenates of Pb, Mn and Co; (3) a lacquer was composed of (by weight) 10 pts. of a polyester of adipic acid, trimethylol propane and butylene glycol, 30 pts. of a fatty acid alkyd resin, 30 pts. of an ethyl acetate solution of a triisocyanate obtained by reacting toluylene diisocyanate with hexane triol, 35 pts. of TiO2, 3,1 pts. of the powdered siloxane and 90 pts. of a mixture of toluene and ethyl-, butyl- and methylglycol-acetates.
