Abstract
886,061. Hypodermic syringes. ESCHMANN, M. March 1, 1960 [May 28, 1959], No. 7292/60. Class 81 (2). The metal end cap of a syringe, having a glass barrel, is secured by interengaging threads, the threads being of rounded form and so shaped as to allow room for expansion during sterilization. The threads preferably have the radius R 2 of the male thread greater than the radius R 1 of the female thread and the latter thread is deeper than the former. By this means the threads engage along a line only, adjacent to their crests, and ample space is available for expansion and relative movement. Forming the threads in the glass barrel by moulding ensures that they retain sufficient elasticity to accommodate any stresses resulting from expansion.
