Abstract

Chromium complexes of fluorocarbon monocarboxylic acids, such as C7F15COOH and C8F17SO2N(C2H5)CH2COOH, are prepared by reacting the acid with chromyl chloride in isopropyl alcohol, employing a chromyl chloride to acid mole ratio of about 2 : 1 to 20 : 1. The product may be used in the manufacture of leather (see Group VIII). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 802,962.
