1,210,324. Fluoroiodoethanes. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A. 12 Nov., 1968 [16 Nov., 1967], No. 53475/68. Addition to 1,168,875. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C1] C 2 F 3 I is prepared by reacting CF 2 I-CF 2 I with HF and PbO 2 at temperatures between 25‹ and 200‹ C. and pressures of at least 5 atmospheres absolute, the molar ratio HF: CF 2 I-CF 2 I being from 2 to 50: 1 and the molar ratio PhO 2 : CF 2 I -CF 2 I being from 0À5 to 2: 1. Iodine is formed as a by-product, together with PbF 2 , and may be reacted with C 2 F 4 in the same or in a separate stage to give further CF 2 I-CF 2 I starting material.
