Abstract

Microporous polyvinyl chloride and copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate are obtained by mixing powdered resin with starch at room temperature, moulding, sintering, treating with water, solubilizing the starch and bleaching. A fluid lubricant may be added for mixing, e.g. paraffin, mineral spirit, toluene or xylene. The microporous resin can be impregnated with a wetting agent.ALSO:Microporous material is obtained by mixing at room temperature starch and thermoplastic resin powder, moulding, sintering, treating with water to swell the starch, solubilizing the starch, and leaching. A fluid lubricant may be added for mixing e.g. paraffin, mineral spirit, toluene or xylene. Polyvinyl chloride and copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate are specified. The microporous material can be impregnated with a wetting agent. Sintering is between 150 DEG and 250 DEG C.
