Abstract

885,289. Change-speed controls. CITROEN S.A., ANDRE. May 21, 1959 [Aug. 25, 1958], No. 17288/59. Class 80 (2). The control lever 2 of a continuously variable change-speed gear for a vehicle is actuated by an hydraulic piston 33 controlled by a slide valve 20 subjected to the action of an engine-driven centrifugal governor 28 and a biasing spring 21 engaging the front of a dashpot piston 22, the rear of which bears against a push rod 23 operable by the driver to modify the loading of spring 21. Alternative controls are provided, the first acting through a cam 7, a further cam 8 effecting conjoint adjustment of the throttle 9, and the second of which acts, without operating the throttle, through levers 11, 12, the latter of which normally bears against a stop 31. The dashpot cylinder 24 is provided with a non- return valve 26 and an orifice 27 which may be adjustable.
