Abstract

885,226. Fluidized beds for heating sheet material. MATHER & PLATT Ltd. March 2, 1959 [March 7, 1958], No. 7364/58. Class 64(2) Air under pressure passes from a chamber 6 up through a base comprising at least one layer of gauze 7 sandwiched between two apertured plates 8, 9 to fluidize a heated bed 4 of sand or glass spheres through which is passed a web 11 of textile material to be treated. The lower roller 14 under which the web passes is hollow and also has apertures exposing gauze through which fluidizing air is passed into the bed 4. Springs, Fig. 4 (not shown), hold gauze against the inner surface of the roller 14. Air is drawn from the apparatus casing, through an upper aperture 17, by a fan.
