885,221. Respiratory apparatus. BLEASE ANAESTHETIC EQUIPMENT Ltd. Feb. 13, 1959 [Nov. 13, 1957], No. 35389/57. Class 81 (2). Artificial respiration or anµsthesia apparatus has a rebreathing bag with internal means for limiting its collapse and means for arresting its expansion so that the bag is collapsed by a constant amount at each respiratory cycle to maintain a gas supply of constant tidal volume. The bag 3 which communicates with an inlet pipe 5 and an outlet pipe 8 is fixed at one end within a chamber 1 in which the pressure is alternately increased and vented to atmosphere. The other end of the bag has a depending rod 15, which abuts a fixed stop (not shown) to limit expansion of the bag, and an internal abutment 14 which limits collapse of the bag by engagement with an adjustable rod 11 extending into the bag from its fixed end.
