Abstract

Salts comprising the anion of an acid optical bleaching agent, such as Blancophore R of the formula <FORM:0884846/IV (b)/1> with a hydrazinium cation containing at least one chain of 8 or more carbon atoms are described.ALSO:The invention comprises salts having a hydrazinium cation containing at least one chain of 8 or more carbon atoms and the anion of an acid dyestuff. The latter dyestuff is defined as a dyestuff of an acidic nature sufficient to give a salt with a hydrazinium cation of the above type. The acidic groups may be carboxyl, sulpho, enolic hydroxyl or nitroso groups which are tautomeric with oxime groups. The dyestuffs may be of the nitroso, azo, aldimine, stilbene, onium, quinone indigoid vat, polyaryl vat, phthalocyanine, acid-substituted cyanine and sulphur vat series. The preferred cations are of the formula <FORM:0884846/IV (c)/1> where R is a substituted or unsubstituted acyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of 8 to 24 carbon atoms and R1 and R2 are each substituted or unsubstituted acyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals of less than 25 carbon atoms or together with the nitrogen atom form a non-aromatic ring. The substituents of R may be alkoxy, alkylamino, acyloxy, acylamino and acyloxyalkylamino and the substituents of R1 and R2 may be hydroxy, hydroxyalkoxy, hydroxyalkylamino, amino, acyloxy, acylamino and acyloxyalkylamino. The salts are prepared by metathesis and examples are given. The salts dye and print fibres and may be used as dye bath and printing paste additives. They may also be used in ballpoint pen inks and lacquers and in chemical analyses.
