Abstract

1341024 Anthraquinone dyestuffs IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 Sept 1971 [29 Oct 1970] 51452/70 Heading C4P The invention comprises disperse dyestuffs of the general formula wherein Z is H or optionally substituted alkyl and Y is optionally substituted aryl, e.g. phenyl. They are prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula with at least one mole per mole of the anthraquinone compound of an amine ZNH 2 wherein Y and Z are as defined above in presence of boric acid or a derivative thereof of the formula (VO) 3 B where V is alkyl or aryl. The reaction takes place between 50‹ C. and the boiling point of the reaction mixture using as an organic solvent an excess of the amine or a phenolic compound, e.g. phenol or o-cresol. The dyes are used to dye cellulose acetate and triacetate, polyamides and polyesters in greenish blue shades.
