Abstract

<PICT:0884773/III/1> <PICT:0884773/III/2> Continuously operable equipment for coating at least the inner surface of a textile hose with rubber or rubber-analogous substance in liquid form and capable of solidification, comprises a vertical sleeve adapted to receive the fabric, means for continuously filling the inside of the fabric up to a predetermined level, pulling means for moving the fabric gradually through the sleeve from the bottom upwards, means for ensuring stanchness at the bottom of the sleeve, and heating means for causing solidification of the coating substance at a predetermined height of the sleeve. In Fig. 1, a textile sheathing 20 is woven by a circular loom about a mandrel 1, to the central bore of which thermo-sensitized and preferably pre-vulcanized latex is fed from a reservoir 12. The mandrel 1 is provided with a seal 14 to prevent downward escape of latex. A sleeve 7, provided with heaters 8, surrounds the sheathing 20, and is carried by a bracket 15, vertically movable on the threaded spindle 16 of a motor 17. During normal operation, the sleeve rests at the lower limit set by a switch 19, partially surrounding the mandrel 1; but if the loom is stopped, it is raised to the upper limit 18. The exterior of the sheathing may be coated by the apparatus of Fig. II, in which latex is supplied by pipes 32, 33 to the interior of a housing 31, sealed below by flexible diaphragms 34, 35, between which a slight air-pressure is maintained. A smooth-surfaced sleeve 38, e.g. a glass tube, is fixed to the housing 31, and its upper part is surrounded by a heat exchanger 40, which may be supplied with hot water. The coated sheathing is then dried in a hot-air chamber. (see Group XIII).
