Abstract

A composition comprises a graft copolymer of at least one polymer with ethylene, and a plasticizer in an amount sufficient to impart to the composition tensile properties characteristic of a high molecular weight polyethylene, the polymer or polymers being one or more homopolymer or copolymer, such as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate or polyisobutylene, that has a value of Young's modulus higher than that typical of a high molecular weight polyethylene and is capable of forming graft copolymers with ethylene. The plasticizer may be dioctyl or dibutyl phthalate, and may be added before, during or after graft polymerization. Specification 884,731 is referred to.
