Abstract
Vinyl chloride polymers (with up to 20 wt.% comonomers) are prepared in aqueous suspension in presence of an aqueous suspension of 2-25 wt.% (based on dry wt.) of a nearly satd. graft copolymer contng. 75-25 pts. by wt. of a mixture of 60-99% (alpha methyl) styrene, 0.1-5% crosslinking comonomers and up to 39.9% polar olefinic monomers, with 25-50 pts. by wt. of a crosslinkable homo- or copolymer, which is then grafted to 25 pts. by wt. of polar olefinic monomers. Use of the graft copolymer imparts high impact strength and transparency provided it contains 0.01 m equivs. g. of C=C groups.
