884,701. Lubricating. INSTITUT Dr. ING. REINHARD STRAUMANN A.G. June 21, 1960 [June 22, 19591, No. 21665/60. Class 12 (3). [Also in Group XVIII] A reservoir in a casing for a totally-enclosed mechanism facilitates the condensation of vapour lubricant contained therein. The material of the reservoir adsorbs or absorbs the lubricant or expands in the presence thereof so that the vapour pressure is thereby reduced. In an alternative way of reducing the vapour pressure in the reservoir, an expansible polymer for example, or an organic substance of a lower molecular weight, is added to the lubricant. In an embodiment, an annular reservoir 3 is located between a watch casing 1 and a movement 2, the components of which have not been lubricated. The back (not shown) is attached to the casing 1 and lubricant is deposited from the reservoir on to the movement 2. The Specification lists suitable materials for the reservoir and suitable substances for the lubricant and additives, it also states that the saturation of the reservoir should be less than 100%.
