Abstract

A curable composition contains a polyepoxide and a boronic acid of the formula R - B(OH)2 where R is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl radical, the acid having a dissociation constant greater than 1x10-10 at 25 DEG C. The preferred polyepoxides are the polyglycidyl polyethers of organic dihydric compounds, e.g. bisphenol A/epichlorhydrin; and the preferred boronic acids are phenyl and m-nitro-phenyl. Optional additives include epoxidized soya bean oil, phenyl glycidyl ether, TiO2, ZnO, toluol, methyl ethyl ketone, butanol, tetrahydro furfuryl alcohol, dibutyl phthalate, di-b -methoxy-ethyl-phthalate and tricresyl phosphate. Uses: Coating; films; moulding; fillers; solders.
