Abstract

Sealing compositions comprise a vulcanized mixture of a polymer of a mono-olefin containing four carbon atoms and a copolymer of a monoolefin containing four carbon atoms and a conjugated diolefin containing four to six carbon atoms, said compositions being tacky and pressure-sensitive. The mono olefin may be butene-1, butene-2 or isobutylene, and the diolefin may be butadiene, isoprene, dimethylbutadiene, pentadiene or piperylene. Vulcanization may be effected with para-dinitrosobenzene, paraquinone dioxime and red lead, or sulphur and sulphur-liberating compounds. The compositions may also comprise carbon black, clay, wax and zinc oxide. The compositions may be extruded on to paper backing strips to give glazing tapes, and may be used in the manufacture of multiple glazed units.
