Abstract

The invention comprises leuco fisetinidin, believed to have the formula <FORM:0884184/IV (b)/1> and a process for its extraction from the sapwood or heartwood of Schinopsis balansae, lorentzii or heterophylla by means of water at a low temperature or at an elevated temperature in the absence of oxygen or with organic solvents such as alcohol or acetone or mixtures of these with water, and removing the solvent under conditions which avoid chemical change. Treatment of leuco-fisetinidin with boiling 10% HCl yields fisetinidin chloride.
