Abstract
Trithiane contaminated by at least one sulphur compound is purified by dissolving in an inert solvent, a part of the solvent and the sulphur compound is distilled off by heating the solution at 100 DEG to 200 DEG C., and purified trithiane is isolated by crystallization. The amount of solvent distilled off is 2 to 20 times the crude trithiane. Depending on solvent B. Pt. reduced or superatmospheric pressure is used during heating. Solvents mentioned are hydrocarbons including halogenated hydrocarbons, ethers, esters, nitriles, amines and sulphones.
