Abstract

Plant extracts consisting of mixtures of 3-flavanols and flavanol oligomers build up from 2-5 identical- or different molecules of which the most important ones are dimers of general formula (I): (where A, A', B and B' may contain one or more substituents R; R = hydroxyl and/or metholxy). The extracts contain all flavanol oligomers in the same quantities as present in the plants. The extracts are active on the peripheral venous system such as decrease of capillary permeability and increase of capillary stability. The extraction is quantitative and qualitative and extracts are much more stable than known ones.
