Abstract
883,984. Toy guns. MARX & CO. Ltd., LOUIS (Marx Inc., Louis). April 18, 1958, No. 12417/58. Class 132(3) A toy gun comprises a magazine which is spring loaded to move transversely of the gun under trigger control and which operates a noise producing striker mechanism and a plunger at the forward end of the gun. As shown, a magazine 10 having rack teeth 12 is spring loaded at 30 to move transversely of a gun casing and rotate a pinion 13 and thence, through a clutch mechanism, a clicker wheel 17 bearing striker fingers 18 which successively engage and release a blade spring 20 so that it strikes a board 50 and produces a sound. The movement of the parts under spring action is controlled by a slidable trigger 5 having a projection 29 which is normally held by a coil spring 28 in the path of the fingers 18. On withdrawing the magazine to reset the firing mechanism, the clutch mechanism disengages the sound producing parts from the pinion 13. When operating the gun, a plunger 40 at the forward end is reciprocated by a rod 41 engaging a disc 44 which is rotated by gearing to the clicker wheel 17. The gun may be formed of moulded plastic in two separable parts and may simulate an automatic sub-machine gun or pistol.
