[Also in Group XL (c)] A circuit which provides a timed gassing change after a given battery voltage is reached comprises a voltage reference circuit V1, R4, P, the voltage from which is added to a variable voltage from a battery under charge and applied to a discharge tube V2. When the battery voltage reaches a determined value, V2 is fired, energizing a relay M which closes contacts S1 which shunts and extinguishes the tube, and also closes contacts S2 which starts a timing device (not shown) to disconnect the battery supply after a set period. The time constant of a CR circuit C2, R4 delays the initial voltage rise of the reference circuit to avoid premature operation.
