Abstract

762,208. Discharge-tube relay circuits. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. March 4, 1954 [March 5, 1953], No. 6360/54. Class 40(6) The Figure shows the circuit of a timer operated from an A.C. supply applied across terminals L<SP>1</SP>, L<SP>2</SP>. When switch 20 is closed capacitor 18 is charged from the A.C. potential between the taps of potentiometers 13 and 15 via diodes 21 and 22 until thyratron 10 is rendered non-conducting. When switch 20 is opened capacitor 18 discharges through resistors 24 and 19 until after a given period thyratron 10 conducts relay 8 operates. The delay period before the charge in capacitor 18 is sufficiently reduced to render thyratron 10 conducting can be varied by adjustment of the taps of potentiometers 13 and 15 the former, which varies the in-phase voltage at the control electrode of tube 10, acting as a " fine adjustment and. the latter as a " coarse " adjustment of the timing period. The timer is relatievly insensitive to fluctuations in the mains voltage.
