A pneumatic servo device on a tractor-trailer vehicle, comprises a valve assembly having two independent distributing valves D1, D2 operated by a brake pedal, valve D1 acting through a pneumatic piston and cylinder Sa, Ra to control a master cylinder Po to operate the tractor brakes, while the valve D2 controls a pneumatic control valve to operate the trailer brakes. Depression of the pedal rotates lever C clockwise about O and due to oil pressure in master cylinder Po, lever a, moves a rod b to the left to compress springs m 1 , m 2 in valves D 1 , D 2 to move elements d 1 , d 2 against springs m<SP>1</SP> 1 , m<SP>1</SP> 2 , to open valves VD1, VD2; the valve VD2 opening first since plate SD2 is biased to the left by spring ma, to supply compressed air from line S2 to conduit 7 to actuate the trailer brakes, the valve VD1 supplying compressed air from line S1 via conduit 9 to move piston Sa against spring Ma to actuate master cylinder Po and apply the tractor brakes. On brake release the elements are returned to their normal positions by the springs, the return movement of elements d 1 , d 2 being limited by stops f and spring ma. In Fig. 1 the distributers D 1 , D 2 have their axes in the same vertical plane but may be mounted in the same horizontal plane, Fig. 2 (not shown).
