Abstract

The invention comprises unsubstituted or C-lower alkyl substituted N-lower alkyl 1-azaspiro [4 : 5] cyclodecan-2-ones and the preparation thereof by reacting an appropriate N-unsubstituted 1-azaspiro [4 : 5] cyclodecan-2-one with a lower alkyl iodide. The term "lower" indicates 1-6 carbon atoms in the alkyl group so described. 1 - Aza - 3 - methyl - spiro [4 : 5] - cyclodecan - 2-one is prepared by reacting nitrocyclohexane with methacrylic acid ethyl ester to give 1-nitro-1-(b -carbethoxypropyl) cyclohexane and hydrogenating this in the presence of Raney-Nickel.ALSO:Pharmaceutical preparations comprise unsubstituted a C-lower alkyl substituted N-lower alkyl - 1 - aza - spiro[4:5]cyclodecanes in admixture or in conjunction with a pharmaceutical carrier suitable for enteral or parenteral administration. The preparations may be in solid or liquid forms, and may be sterilized and/or may contain auxiliary substances. They may also contain other therapeutically active substances.
