Class 20(2) A mine roof support comprises a telescopic, hydraulic pit prop 10, 11, supported intermediate its height on an extensible base comprising telescoping pillars 16, 17 secured by pins which pass through holes 18. The prop is pivoted to the base by a part spherical annulus 21 which is seated in a correspondingly shaped recess 20 on the pillars 16. The support may also rest on a base 22.
