882,191. Cigarette-making machines. LOVERING, A. A. Oct. 8, 1959 [July 17, 1959], No. 24626/59. Class 130. A resilient plate 22 backing the apron 16 of a manual rolling device in a box 12 enables cigarettes to be formed differing in diameter according to the size of the tobacco charge 23 initially placed in the apron bight. The plate 22 may be retained merely by the apron 16 or be fixed at its lower edge to the box lid 10, closure of which effects wrapping of an inserted cigarette paper 25 round the tobacco charge 23 by causing a roller 18 rotatable in arms 20 to traverse slots 13, the completed cigarette being ejected from a slot 15.
