Abstract

881,782. Driving magnetic tapes. LOEWA OPTA A.G. July 9, 1959 [July 17, 1958], No. 23552/59. Class 40 (2). A pulley 1 carrying a friction surface 2 drives a spool carrier 5 via the intermediary of a disc 3 which is secured to a check-spring 6 allowing rotation in one direction only relative to a fixed spindle 7. The sense of the spring is such that a reversible belt drive 8, 16 provides drive to the spool when winding and a friction drag between a surface 4 and the stationary disc 3 when feeding the tape. The disc 3 is preferably of nylon.
