881,106. Capping electric lamp bulbs. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 10, 1958 [March 12, 1957], No. 7612/58. Class 39(2) In an electric incandescent lamp, e.g. for motor vehicles or for projection which has a concentrated lighting element and a single or multi-step aligning flange, first and second metal members forming the aligning flange and part of the lamp cap are secured to the bulb by an annular mass of thermo-hardening cement, the members being applied while the cement is soft so that the cap and flange can be adjusted relatively to the element, each member or part of a member forming the cap being substantially cylindrical in shape. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the cap comprises a cylindrical member 9 surrounding the neck of the bulb 1 and a bottom plate 8 of insulating material having contacts 7 for the leadin wires 6 and the aligning flange 12 has an inner cylindrical portion 13 extending into the cement mass 10 inside the member 9. Holes 14 are provided in the portion 13 to allow cement to pass through. After adjustment of the cap and flange, the cement is hardened by beating. In a modification, the flange 22, Fig. 3, forms part of the cap member 23, a metal sleeve 21 pierced with holes resting on the neck of the bulb and extending into the cement mass between this and the member 23.
