Abstract

879,874. Photographic reflex-printing processes. PFISTER, K., and SCHWIENBACHER, G. Feb. 4, 1958 [May 8, 1957], No. 3574/58. Class 98(2) Positive copies of documents are produced continuously as a film is fed for development between a pair of wetting rollers after a printing exposure and before a second exposure to contact print the developed image on to a second lightsensitive layer. The positive image is produced on development of the second light sensitive layer. As shown, a support 2 having two sensitized layers 1, 3 containing developer is moved past a source 5 of yellow light towards a water bath 6. A document 4 is reflex printed on to layer 1 which alone is sensitized to yellow light. Layer 1 is developed by feeding and wetting rollers 8 and is printed on to layer 3 by source 7 of blue or white light. If the printing is done with white light, layer 1 becomes completely black and may subsequently be bleached or, alternatively, support 2 may consist of two lamina separable by stripping. Blackening of layer 1 to any substantial extent is stated to be prevented if blue light is used. The document may be printed by episcopic projection.
