Abstract
879,465. Time switches; retractive switches. INTERNATIONAL REGISTER CO. Dec. 16, 1957, No. 39053/57. Class 38 (5). A switch has a time-driven cam controlling main contacts, said cam being manually settable by rotation of a knob which is also axially displaceable against spring action to operate supplementary contacts. The cam 35 is driven by an electric motor 73 via gearing 64, 71 and a friction clutch 66, 67 and is secured to a bushing 53 having a slot 81 engaged by a pin 82 on a shaft 56 carrying a knob 90. A cam follower 42, as described in Specification 879,466, transmits movement to contact springs 22, 24 so as to open and close contacts 28, 30, 32. The shaft 56 is normally biased to the rear by a spring 86, one end of which engages a stop 87 secured to the bushing 53 and the other end of which bears on a collar 83. The knob and shaft may be pulled out so that the collar 83 pivots a lever 95 about recesses 101 which engage in a slot 99 in a fixed bracket 58, thus causing an insulating button 103 to press contacts 108, 109 together.
