Abstract

879,395. Printed circuits. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 27, 1959 [May 30, 1958], No. 17406/58. Class 37. A method of producing a printed circuit comprises forming by an etching process the required conductive areas on to a baseplate, having angularly spaced holes 1, such that a proportion of the holes lie within the conductive areas. The base may be a sheet of laminated thermosetting plastic into which the holes are punched, or it may be moulded from plastic or ceramic with the holes formed during the moulding process. In one form, a sheet of thermo-setting plastic, coated on one surface with copper foil, is punched to provide a large number of holes in a rectangular array. The foil is then etched away to leave the required conducting pattern, which, in order to avoid discontinuities at the holes, is either made wider than the holes as at 5, or has its width extended in the vicinity of the holes as at 3, 4. Additional holes 6 may be added if required.
