Abstract

879,379. Road traffic signals on vehicles. SWF-SPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOBEHOER G. RAU G.m.b.H. Feb. 20, 1959 [March 21, 1958], No. 5841/59. Class 118. A steering column switch for self-cancelling, turn indicators is characterized in that the degree of rotation of the steering column necessary to return the switch to the non- operative position may be adjusted. As shown in Fig. 1, the return mechanism includes a stepped plate 7 which is arranged such that the edges of the steps may engage with the member 5 when the control column is turned to restore the switch to the non-operative condition. The switch 4 itself is pivotably mounted about an axis 8 so that by moving the control arm 6 up or down the member 5 may be moved to engage with the widely spaced edges 73, the intermediate ones 72 or the near ones 71. Cancelling of the switch will thus be produced by a large, a medium, or a small angle of rotation of the steering column respectively. In a second form, Fig. 2 (not shown), the switch 4 is not pivoted, but the plate 7 is arranged to slide up and down under the control of a further lever arm. In a third embodiment, Fig. 3, the restoring of the switch is effected by two pins 12, 13 which are angularly displaceable with respect to one another. The pins are mounted on a ring formed of two sections 21, 22 having slots 14 which slide on a pin 15 to vary the angle between the pins from au to st under the control of a push-rod 20.
