Abstract
A dyestuff or dyestuff-component containing at least one reactive substituent capable of entering into chemical combination with free hydroxy groups present in cellulose xanthate is added to a solution of viscose in an alkaline medium if desired in the presence of a reducing agent and the viscose solution is then spun into shaped structures which are treated if they contain a dyestuff component with a compound which reacts with a dyestuff component to produce a dyestuff. Dyestuff-component is defined as an azo-dye coupling component, e.g. derivatives of a - or b -naphthol, 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid, 2-amino-8-oxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid or arylides of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid, acetoacetic acid anilides, phenylmethyl-pyrazolones and aromatic amines containing reactive substituents and groups imparting water solubility such as 1 : 3 and 1 : 4 diaminobenzene sulphonic acid and 4 : 41 diaminodiphenyl sulphonic acid. Preferred dyestuffs are azo, anthraquinone, stilbene, azine, dioxazine, perinone diphenylamine and phthalocyanine dyestuffs. The dyestuff may be added to the cellulose xanthate solution in the form of an aqueous solution which is stirred directly thereinto. When a coupling component is used as dyestuff-component the shaped structures are after treated with a diazotized amine solution. Examples are given.ALSO:In Example 13, the dyestuff of formula:- <FORM:0879071/IV(c)/1> is made by reacting the condensation product of perylene tetracarboxylic anhydride and 1 : 4-diaminobenzene- 2-sulphonic acid with 2 : 4-dichloro-6-phenyl-amino-triazine- 31-sulphonic acid.
