Abstract
The invention comprises water-soluble dyes of the formula <FORM:0922829/IV(a)/1> where F is an organic dyestuff radical, X is an acid-dissociating, water-solubilizing group, Y is chlorine or bromine, Z is methyl, R is hydrogen or alkyl of up to four carbon atoms and n and m are each 1, 2, 3 or 4. Organic dyestuff radicals mentioned are those of the monoazo, disazo, metallized azo, anthraquinone and phthalocyanine series. Water-solubilizing groups specified are sulphonic acid, carboxylic acid and acylated sulphonic acid amide groups. The dyestuffs are made by acylating a dyestuff of the formula <FORM:0922829/IV(a)/2> with an acylating agent which introduces the b -chloro- or b -bromocrotonyl radical, such as the acid chloride, anhydride or mixed anhydride or ester, or by coupling diazo and coupling components which together contain at least one b -chloro- or -bromocrotonylamino group. In examples, (1) monoazo and disazo dyes are made by coupling and then acylated, (2) diazo components or aminoazo compounds are acylated and then diazotized and coupled, (3) monoazo and disazo dyes are made by coupling in pyridine/soda or pyridine/ammonia media and are metallized and acylated, (4) diazo and coupling components are acylated and then coupled to give monoazo and disazo dyes, and (5) phthalocyanines and (6) anthraquinones are acylated. The dyestuffs dye cellulose fibres from aqueous solution and are then fixed with alkali.
