Abstract
The invention comprises disazo dyes derived from 3- or 4-aminonaphthalimides and free from SO3H groups, of the formula <FORM:1106048/C4-C5/1> wherein R is a (C1-C8) aliphatic radical which may be substituted, A is a benzene or naphthalene residue and B is a radical of a coupling component, preferably of the benzene series. They may be obtained by coupling diazo derivatives of 3- or 4-aminophthalimide whose N atom bears an aliphatic radical as substituent with coupling components of the benzene or naphthalene series containing a diazotizable amino group, and converting the monoazo dyes into disazo dyes by diazotization and coupling. The aliphatic radical R may bear hydroxy, alkoxy or amino groups as substituents. Examples are given for the production of the dyes. They may be used for dyeing or printing textile materials derived from cellulose esters, cellulose ethers, polyacrylonitrile, copolymers of acrylonitrile, linear polyamides, polyurethanes or polyesters yellow, orange, red brown or red shades.
