Abstract
878,961. Aerials. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. Feb. 4, 1960 [April 21, 1959], No. 4004/60. Class 40(7) [Also in Group XL(b)] A quarter-wave coaxial-line wave trap comprises an inner conductor 1 and a number of outer conductors 7 having one end short-circuited to, and fixed in position on a circle coaxial with, the inner conductor, the outer conductors being bent back into the space between the inner conductor and the outer portions of the outer conductors. The inner conductor 1 forms a support for a rod aerial 3 and is connected to the outer conductors 7 by a shorting plate 6. The plate 6 forms part of a conical container 2 for a box 4 enclosing an aerial matching circuit. A coaxial line 5 leads from the box 4 along the outside of or, as shown, through the interior of the supporting mast 1. The outer conductors are covered in plastic material and are supported by an insulating ring 8 and an insulating disc 9. The inner portions lie on a conical surface whereby the capacitance of the line increases from the vicinity of the bends to the inner ends of the conductors. The variation .in both inductance and capacitance along the length of the line results in an improved band-width.
