An interference suppression capacitor comprises a lead-through capacitor, one electrode of which forms, or is connected to, one electrode of another capacitor located on the outside of the lead-through capacitor. In one embodiment, Fig. 5, the lead-through conductor 8 makes contact with the inner metallic coating or sleeve 10 of a ceramic tube 9 which carries an outer metallic coating or sleeve 11 forming the common electrode of the two capacitors. Ceramic tube 13 and coating or sleeve 14 completes the second capacitor. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7, the lead-through capacitor comprises conductor 8 and electrode foils 16, 18, foil 16 being in contact with conductor 8, and foil 18 being connected to a metal can 21. One electrode foil 22 of a second wound capacitor is also connected to can 21, the other foil electrode of the second capacitor being connected to an outer flanged metallic can 25. Suitably coloured leads or other indication is provided on the capacitor to indicate that conductor 8 is to be connected to the live wire, the electrode 11 of Fig. 5 or 18 of Fig. 7 is to be connected to the neutral wire and the outer electrode of the second capacitor is to be connected to earth.
