Abstract

877,778. Floor cleaning machines. CIMEX Ltd. May 31, 1960 [July 1, 1959], No. 22648/59. Class 138(1). [Also in Group XXVIII] A vacuum floor-cleaning and polishing machine has two contra-rotatable, cylindrical brushes 1, 2, and means for applying suction to a collection chamber 9 connected to a duct 7 above the brushes. The brushes 1, 2 may be of wire or bristle and are rotatable in the directions indicated 5, 6, their diameters being in the ratio 3 : 5. A fan 10 draws air through a duct 7 and a removable collection chamber 9 and expels the air through a dust filter 11. A baffle 27 prevents heavy matter from passing out of the box. The brush shafts 3, 4 are belt-driven through a gearbox, Fig. 2 (not shown), by an electric motor 14 which also drives the fan 10 through a layshaft and belt drive. Additional pairs of brushes and ducts may be fitted. The electric motor may be replaced by a petrol engine and the belts by gearing. The fan may be driven by a separate motor.
