Abstract
877,522. Coffee extracting. GENERAL FOODS CORPORATION. Nov. 2, 1959, No. 37162/59. Class 129. Each of a number of coffee pressure percolators 10 to 15 is provided with a fresh coffee inlet and a spent coffee discharge outlet 42, and is supplied with a heat exchanger to heat by steam or to cool inlet water at 23 which travels through each percolator in series through pipes 24 and 28 until the coffee liquor is discharged at 41. Operation of the system is such that the first four percolators have water temperature of 288-320‹ F., the following percolators being supplied with the liquor cooled by its heat exchanger to about 175‹ F. Various treatment times and temperatures are stated. Specification 877,521 has the same apparatus but is used at different temperatures.
