Abstract

877,364. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Feb. 26, 1960 [Nov. 26, 1959], No. 40187/59. Class 40(7) A wide band high frequency aerial system comprises a dipole to which is connected a feeder and (by means of conductive strips situated either side of, and displaced from, the point of connection of the feeder) a second dipole, this being resonant at a different frequency from the first dipole, the two being situated substantially parallel to each other and separated by a short distance. A dipole 1, 2, tuned to the centre frequency of a band extending from 170 to 230 mc/s., is supported from an earthed structure 3 by means of a stay 5 and the outer conductor 4 of a coaxial feeder. A second dipole, tuned to another frequency within the band, is supported from the first by means of two conductive clamps 9, these being contrived so that the separation of the clamps from each other and of the dipoles from each other may be varied in order to tune the system. In other embodiments both dipoles may be supported by other means but connected to each other by conductive strips, the position of the dipoles relative to the earthed structure may be reversed, and similar systems may be massed in arrays or form the energized aerial of a Yagi array.
