Abstract

877,341. Electric light fittings. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 11, 1958 [July 4, 1957], No. 21213/57. Class 75(4). In an electric lamp enclosure of generally rectangular form having internal light reflecting surfaces along parallel sides and light diffusing or transmitting means such as louvres, the reflecting surfaces are provided on parallel side members, one or more of which on opposite sides of the enclosure are pivoted for outward movement to permit access to the interior. In the form shown, the enclosure 1 is of elongated shape and is supported on the trunking described in Specification 770,999. The enclosure 1 includes a U-shaped metallic supporting bracket 2 at each end, the free ends of the brackets being formed with spaced inturned flanges 2b connected by angle sections 3 secured to the flanges 2b. The flanges of the angle sections 3 provide ledges forming a seating for a rectangular louvre or other diffusing means 6. The metal between the flanges 2b is turned outwards to form pivots 7. The sides of the enclosure are closed by members 8 with. internal light reflecting surfaces, the lower edges of the members 8 being turned over and the ends crimped to retain pins 9 engaging the pivots 7. The enclosure is closed by end plates secured to the brackets 2. The enclosure is supported on the trunkirig 11 by winged members 12 mounted on but spaced from the brackets 2, the members 12 being passed through a slot 11a in the trunking and turned through a right angle.
