Abstract
877,278. Holders for packs of interleaved paper. PENNEY, E. Feb. 18, 1960 [Feb. 18, 1959], No. 5556/59. Class 18. A holder for packs of interleaved toilet paper or paper towels accommodates an " in use " pack and a reserve pack and has means preventing pilfering of either pack. When the lower pack is almost exhausted a finger is passed through the usual opening 15 through which the sheets are withdrawn and engages and pivots the top end of a lever 30 pivoted at 29. The lever 30 releases the base 20 of the holder and the exhausted pack is withdrawn. As the base is opened a member 31 moves down and a spring urged member 32 becomes approximately horizontal and supports and prevents removal of the reserve pack. When the base is reclosed, the member 31 returns the member 32 to its initial position and the reserve pack falls to the lower position. A spring urged member 22 is pressed downwards when a reserve pack is introduced into the top of the holder and has spikes 24 which prevent withdrawal of the pack through the open lid 17 of the holder. The lid may be locked by an operating lever inside the holder and having an arm engaging a flange 36 on the lid. In a modification the member 32 is omitted and a flange 35 on the base is extended to partly cover the open base and prevent withdrawal therethrough of a full pack.
