Abstract

876,894. Universal joints; shaft couplings; machinery guards. ALVAN BLANCH DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. April 14, 1960 [April 25, 1959], No. 14195/59. Classes 80 (2) and 80(4). A coupling between a tractor power take-off shaft and a shaft to be driven comprises a squaresectioned telescopic shaft 1, 2 the ends of which are connected by helical springs 5, 6 to end connectors 9, 10 secured to the respective shafts by screws 11. The springs are secured to the shafts 1, 2 and connectors 9, 10 by compressively gripping several convolutions between flanges 3, 4; 3a, 4a; 7, 8; 7a, 8a. A rubber tube 12 supported by a flange 13 surrounds at least part of the coupling and acts as a guard.
