876,875. Spool braking for axminster looms. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Dec. 7, 1959 [Dec. 7, 1958], No. 35855/58. Class 142 (2) The spool transfer mechanism 13 of an Axminster carpet loom is provided with a double acting pneumatic cylinder 14 which, firstly, applies a large braking load on the spool 121 during the transfer and, secondly, a lower braking load during the tuft withdrawal. The lower braking load is obtained by admitting compressed air to the opposite side of the cylinder 14 to relieve the first load or, alternatively, two cylinders acting at different pressures may be utilised.
