876,259. Tractor power-lift mechanisms. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN Ltd. Feb. 21, 1958 [May 13, 1957; July 4, 1957], Nos. 15112/57 and 21179/57. Class 79(1). A reaction spring arrangement for a threepoint linkage with automatic depth control comprises two spring units 15, 19 which act in opposition on the movable anchorage member 1 for the top link, the spring units having no preload when the member 1 is in a neutral position. The spring 15 resists compressive forces in the top link while spring 19 resists tensile forces. A slidable member 10 pivotally connected to a rod 11 operates a valve controlling the power lift 12 for automatic depth control. In a modification, the member 1 instead of being connected by a pivot pin 14 to an abutment 13 for the springs has curved surfaces to engage recesses in a pair of abutment members arranged above and below the arm 8, the lower abutment member being in engagement with the upper end of a compression spring provided in place of the spring 19. A second spring adjustable by a screwed abutment may be arranged inside the upper springs. Specification 276,258 is referred to.
