Abstract
In the continuous movement of brewer's wort from a mashing to a fermentation stage, the wort is passed to one or more vessels maintained at an internal pressure such, in relation to the temperature of the wort, as to cause flashing-off of certain constituents of the wort and such constituents are removed from the vessel to purify or concentrate the wort. The flashed-off constituents can be collected and passed in indirect heat-exchange with wort passing to treatment. The process can be included in the process described in Specification 848,641.
