Abstract

875,405. Universal joints. MOLLAIT ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Feb. 3, 1960 [Feb. 3, 1959], No. 3824/59. Addition to 827,256. Class 80 (2). In a Hooke's joint of the parent Specification wherein terminal member fork arms 18 flanged, splined or serrated for shaft attachment are pivotally retained in axial slots 19 in an intermediate member 12 by radial pins 20, the said pins are retained by bolts 33 extending therethrough and screwed in a central ring 29. The ring bore defines an oil reservoir 23 sealed by end-plates 24 and filled through a channel 31. Oil is centrifugally fed to needle rollers or, as shown, steel-backed bronze bushes 22 in the fork arms through radial channels 32, a circumferential channel 30 and channels 40, a portion of each bolt shank being of reduced diameter to permit oil flow therealong. Tab washers 35 lock the bolts.
