874,854. Nuclear fuel elements. UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION. June 12, 1959 [July 17, 1958], No. 20164/59. Class 39(4). A ternary alloy which may be used in the liquid phase as fuel for a nuclear reactor consists of either (i) Co 10-20% atomic, Pu not more than 88% atomic, Ce and impurities the remainder or (ii) Ni with or without Co 10- 25% atomic, Pu not more than 86% atomic, Ce and impurities the remainder. Alloy (i) melts at 425-500‹C. and alloy (ii) melts at 475-550‹C. Parts in contact with the molten alloy should be of Ta or W or a Ta-W alloy. Specification 860,161 is referred to.
